Can I Continue Prednisone if Itching
I had this with the Dachund I had, they gain a lot of weight on Prednisone ,and he drank copious amounts of water, I may have been unlucky but he got diabetes and the Vet said the prednisone certainly hadnt helped, have you ever thought of googling in case there is any Natural remedy out there, I will also check around I go to a great Health food store they may have Animal stuff. .
ve had four short rounds of prednisone already and would prefer to stay away from it if I can. But the itching is fierce! How long does this kind of "rebound" rash usually last? And when can I expect to feel relatively "normal" again after about two months of intermittent prednisone use?
Ive been itching for a few monthes now, I've seen my doctor and was givin blood tests to make sure i have no diseases. I was givin prednisone 20mg and after two days of taking the meds im itching even more. Should i continue taking the meds or stop?
This made a huge difference but, once the prednisone wore off the rash back full force. I returned to my doctor and was prescribed Prednisone for longer and a higher yet decreasing dosage over 7 days. Sure enough, the rash dried out and healed, itching subsided until about 2 days after finishing the course of Predisone. Now, im itching again and the rash is returning! it's like if I'm off Prednisone it will come back but, i cant keep taking prednisone over and over. What's going on?
This stopped the itching and the red bumps for a couple days, but now the bumps are coming back (I am still on the prednisone). No itching, but I am worried once I come off the prednisone, my skin will just go back to getting increasingly worse and worse. Someone please help, I just want my skin to be normal for once and to not be afraid to go out in public.
So they put me on prednisone for the all over itching and say it's a class c during pregnancy. So if I'm 32 weeks is it safe to take it the remainder of my pregnancy.
My mom is a Hodgkins Disease survivor who now has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and she's experienced fevers, drenching night sweats; weight loss; rash and frequent (often, uncontrollable) itching. Like the other symptoms, I believe that the itching is a result of the body's immune system reacting to the Cancer. Her symptoms went away during chemotherapy (ABVD)... but, every now and then, she'll feel some faint tingling sensations, kinda like a distal itch.
Doctor taking me off prendison gradually, is that why i have itching blotchy skin and bubbles or blisters below my eyes?
Am wondering whats the danger to my unborn baby?also recently I started itching badly and also my blood work results are not getting better. Is there anyone who has had the same problem?
i understand your frustration. I have been on prednisone for about 3months now. Have had mild case of chronic hives for 1.5years but last 3months have been hell. My hives are similar to yours, don't itch but they sting. If you can cover them up and can stand the pain, I say hold off on the prednisone. Take combination of antihistamines...claritin in the morning, benedryl at night, etc. If they itch but you don't mind the way they look, put the cortisone cream stuff.
im suffering from itching in my lower leg almost 5 months and im taking prednisone but its coming back after my medicine finish.its look like a purpura but my igA is normal and some of my laboratory..i need help..
In July 2012, taper completed and she developed rash on legs with blisters and serve itching. We canceled Ileostomy and started 10 mg Prednisone, itching continued not as serve. We visited dermatologists, Biopsy and nothing conclusive. Dr. thinks she has some other type of autoimmune disease. Until found they will not do surgery. Recommend seeing Rheumatologist. August 10 mg Prednisone started again and she started a Gluten Free Diet. She has been on for 8 weeks, then started a 2.
I have tried elidel, protopic, tons of steroid creams, oitments, doxycycline, PUVA, epicream, prednisone and steroid injections. The only things that work are the injections and prednisone, but the immidiate side effects of prednisone are too much (face swelling ect...). Is there anything else I can do?!!?!?
You know after finishing 12wks so far I just was reading that it could mess my chances for SVR. I pray that this will pass the itching that is. I was crying I was itching so bad. And when you take an ICE COLD bath just to make it stop you know it's bad.
How long can it stay this high without permanent damage? He is taking prednisone and something for itching.
Someone posted that their sister was diagnosed with epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) and was given Prednisone injection, which made the itching and bumps go away. I called the dermatologist office and told the receptionist about the outbreak and got an appt two days later (tomorrow). I'm hoping for the Prednisone shot. In another post, some women tied their similar symptoms to Mirena IUD, which I am now using. They claim they never had allergies until they had Mirena implanted.
I was on prednisone for two months this winter and within two days of starting the prednisone, my itching stopped! I tapered off the prednisone three weeks ago and the itching is back full force! I started having trouble with knee pain about two months after I started on Lialda. I thought it was the start of old age setting in (47) so I've been going to the chiropractor to get my knees adjusted. It usually helps for about a month, then the pain sets in again.
Benadryl and prednisone. You can get the benadryl over the counter, but the prednisone is a steroid that mush be prescribed. Have you seen your health care provider for this?
But as soon as I quit taking the prednisone it seemed the rash got twice as bad. Went back to doc and got 10 mgs of prednisone, take 3 for 3 days, then 2 for 3 days, then one. The rash went away a lil more. Now it seems as if the rash may be coming back again. My question is will taking to small of a dose, or not taking the prednisone until the rash clears up. Will that cause the rash to come back?
You can't just randomly put different medicines from your medicine cabinet on the cats. Cats will lick off whatever is put on them. It's probably poisonous to them. And, do not give them prednisone that was prescribed for you. You have no idea how to dose a cat according to body weight. Really, your best bet is a rescue group. Do some research online. I'm sure there's something out there that's a reasonable distance from you.
My eyes has began to swell back up and facial rash and lids are itching more and more to the point that I cannot sleep. Tried putting cortisone cream but that only burned eyes also watery and feels dry at times. Eye dr said my eyes were fine and that I had an allergic reaction to something. I have not changed anything or tried anything new. The only know allergy I have is penicillin. I am at my wits end, I have search the internet but have found no answers. Please help me!!!
I have a positive Ana and positive DNA . I also have occasional joint pain and extreme fatigue. Doctor wants tonstart me on plaquenil. I am currently having a reaction to synthroid so they wont start me on the plaque nil until I have that situation taken care of first. I also have multiple drug allergies. My questions are, is delaying the plaque nil going to make a big difference and does anyone else with lupus have multiple drug allergies. Also allergic to prednisone,!!!!!!!
I am 46 year old female, have had Hep C for about 20 years, normal liver functions tests (waiting on Fibrospect results) viral load of 22 Million, probably due recently being on prednisone. I have had chronic tingling, burning, itching in hands, feet, arms, legs for about 2 1/2 months and have been tested for numerous things, normal EMG, thryoid (have Hashimoto's but controlled hypothyroid with meds) not diabetic. Also test for mixed essential cryoglobulin and also negative.
The itching areas are mostly in the folds of his skin, in particular he has said in the nape of his neck, under his arm pits, behind his knees, between his fingers, on his chest bone, by his wrists and elbows and even on his toes and the bottom of his feet. He will take benadryl at nite, but even this doesn't help much. He has used this cream 3 times now and it keeps returning after a few weeks. There is NO visible rash.
Hi. I am 33 years old and was diagnosed with AIH 12 years ago. I have been managed successfully--first with prednisone and then with imuran. My enzymes have been 'normal' for 8 years or so. However, I am hoping to get pregnant and so my Dr. slowly weaned me off the imuran and now I am on prednisone 20mg. My last dose of immuarn was tuesday--25mg (down from 100mg). Now my dr. wants me to wait 2-3 months to start trying to get pregnant!
All which came back negative for MRS, STAPH and all they could do after IV ANTIBIOTICS (she needed iv Benadryl as the rash and itching became unbearable.) is send her home to an allergist. allergist ran a few tests including autoimmune testing. New bloodwork came back positive for drug induced lupus! her rash and itching are not getting better despite on being on so many antihistamines. Question, anyone experience this?
